Karen Capron

I was saved in 1983 at the age of 11. My mom had recently been saved and we had begun attending a Baptist Church and Christian school. It was during summer camp that I wanted to be sure of my relationship with Christ. Up to that point, I wasn’t sure if it was my decision to be saved or simply to not be left out of this new religion my Mom and sister had embraced. Now I was sure.

I was priviliged to attend a Christian  school from 5th to 12th grade. I then attended Baptist Bible College East for Elementary Education. Upon graduation, I returned to my home church where I taught for two years. In the middle of those 2 years, I had the opportunity to teach for a year at Fortaleza Academy, an English school for missionary children in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. I was able to work with some great missionaries; one family had been my 6th grade Sunday school teachers!

When my husband and I got married, we moved to Massachusetts from our home state of Maine. Though I was sure I would home-school my children, I was happy to know our new home was right down the street from what I had heard was a really great Christian school….NEBA! Suzanna began K-5 in 2002.  Spencer and Sheldon soon joined as well. I helped when I could, substituting and tutoring. I taught full time in 2006 in 4th and 5th grade. I home-schooled my three the following year but we were happy to be back at NEBA the following year.

I have since been easing my way back into teaching. I am now working with the junior high students teaching math, science, and history as well as one high school science course. I love being a part of this school family. It has been a blessing in my life to be a part of such a great school and for my children to receive their schooling here.
